Qownnotes password#
I guess the weakest point of the encryption would be the password you are using to encrypt a note. There are already scripts for encrypting notes with PGP (PGP Encryption) or Keybase (Keybase Encryption).
You can also use your own encryption with the help of the scripting engine. You can use notes with a special tag to store command snippets, which you can execute from the command-line snippet manager. Note encryption is by default done by the Botan library with AES-256. You now can use the QOwnNotes command-line snippet manager (opens new window) to execute command snippets stored in notes in QOwnNotes from the command line.
How secure is your encryption of the notes, what algorithm do you use? You can use as many private and local scripts as you like and if you want make a script public you can create a pull-request on. There is a documentation of all the API calls on. There are a lot of examples on and you can always use the scripting repository at as reference for new scripts. Scripts are written in JavaScript (inside QML files). What do you have to know to write a QOwnNotes script? If you need to modify the way the user interface looks you can do so with Custom user interface styling, or Custom note preview styling if you want to do the same with the preview. Also the script tag tagging in note text is pretty awesome because with it they can store their tags inside the notes. I love scripts to create new notes from text I copied from web applications like Note from Jira issue and Note from Bitrix24 task. Which three QOwnNotes scripts do you consider most useful? ownCloud notes met most of my requirements for note taking in the web at that time. I cannot remember if I used ownCloud before or because I created QOwnNotes, but I loved ownCloud because it is FOSS and I could host it myself and as PHP-developer it also was a great fit for me.

The desktop software needed to run on every popular operating system.Īfter trying out several text editors, I found none that could really do that in the way I liked it, so I wrote my own. The notes should be stored as simple text files in a directory so I can sync them easily. In late 2014 I needed a way to quickly take notes with one keyboard shortcut and the current date in the filename (until I have the time to change it to something better). We interviewed Patrizio Bekerle, who wrote the QOwnNotes software, as well as its ownCloud integration app. There is also an QOwnNotes app for ownCloud, providing API access for a QOwnNotes desktop client, enhancing QOwnNotes by a few functionalities. QOwnNotes is especially popular for its high scriptability – there are a ton of community-written scripts for it. Qownnotes download#
To make these repositories work out of the box, you need to import my OBS gpg key: obs-npreining.asc, best to download it and put the file into /etc/apt//obs-npreining.asc.
The new locations for binary packages for both amd64 and i386 architectures are as follows below. But QOwnNotes integrates nicely with the Notes application from NextCloud and OwnCloud, as well as providing useful integration with NextCloud like old version of notes, access to deleted files, watching changes, etc. By itself, it wouldn’t be something to talk about, we have vim and emacs and everything in between. To repeat a bit about QOwnNotes, it is a cross-platform plain text and markdown note taking application. My recent experience with the openSUSE Build System has convinced me to move also the QOwnNotes packages there, which allows me to provide builds for Debian/Buster, Debian/testing, and Debian/sid, all for both i386 and amd64 architectures. Some time ago I posted about QOwnNotes for Debian.

Update : I have removed my QOwnNotes repository, since there is a OBS build by upstream that includes builds for Debian/unstable, testing, Buster.
